Brazilian football star Fabinho has joined Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli, the club announced on Wednesday.

The 28-year-old midfielder is set to join the Emirati side for a fee believed to be in the region of £16 million ($21 million).

Fabinho, who has been with Liverpool since he was just 15 years old, has made over 400 appearances for the Reds and helped them win the Premier League title twice.

He has also won two Copa del Rey titles with the club.

Al Ahli have been looking for a new midfielder after losing their previous one, Carlos Sanchez, to Barcelona.

Fabinho's move to the Gulf state will be seen as a significant coup for the club, who are currently third in the league table.

He is expected to make his debut for Al Ahli against Al Jazira on Saturday.

In other news, Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has revealed that he had a heart attack while playing for England in a friendly match against Wales last month.

The former Leicester City player said he had felt "unwell" during the game but did not think it would affect his performance.

Maguire, who is out injured until January, has returned to training and hopes to be fit for the Premier League opener against West Ham on August 9.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has also spoken about the club's future plans following the departure of David de Gea to Real Madrid.

Solskjaer said: "We want to keep our best players at the club and we're going to do everything possible to try and keep them here."

"We've got some really good young players coming through the ranks and we'll continue to develop them."
